Overview

Battery Technologies UK Ltd, a Bristol-based specialist in industrial battery maintenance and repair, partnered with Novecom Digital to overhaul its end-to-end service operations. The goal was to enhance service quality, attract top engineering talent, and scale the business efficiently while reducing costs.

We started the engagement with a comprehensive Digital Roadmap, identifying operational gaps and setting clear priorities. The solution encompassed a desktop administration system for job management, an integrated CRM for customer interactions, and bespoke mobile applications for service engineers. These apps facilitated job tracking, photo documentation, customer signature capture, route planning, expense estimation, and automated service sheet generation. Integration with Xero streamlined financial processes.

To further improve diagnostic accuracy and speed, we are now developing a dedicated AI-powered bench assistant. This digital tool is designed to support engineers in real-time during fault diagnosis and repair tasks, enabling faster turnaround, consistent assessments, and knowledge sharing across teams.

The transition from paper-based to digital records eliminated data duplication and loss, providing immediate access to information. This digital shift enabled engineers to complete more jobs with less time on-site, contributing to over 5,000 service jobs and achieving 100% UK coverage. The company reported a significant EBITDA increase exceeding 30%.

The implementation was carefully staged to avoid business disruption, with Novecom providing ongoing support and training. The intuitive design of the digital forms mirrored existing paper formats, allowing engineers to adapt quickly with minimal training.
