"The capability these tools provide, allow us to condense our development timescales dramatically, with a corresponding and transformational improvement in product quality and cost."
Challenge
Aston Martin Lagonda, renowned for its luxury sports cars and engineering excellence, needed to modernise and streamline its design verification and vehicle testing processes. With multiple new models in development, engineers were relying on a mixture of legacy protocols, manual workflows, and disconnected tools to capture, assess, and validate test data. This created delays, inconsistencies, and duplicated effort across teams. The organisation required a more integrated and efficient approach that could accelerate development cycles, improve quality, and ensure accurate, real-time visibility of test performance across thousands of verification activities.
Solution
We worked with Aston Martin’s engineering teams to update and standardise their verification and testing protocols, transforming them into a connected suite of digital applications. These applications integrated directly with Aston Martin’s product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, enabling seamless data exchange and the automated collection of real-time information from test vehicles.
The platform supported the creation of bespoke test libraries and validation modules for each new vehicle model, ensuring consistency while allowing engineering flexibility. Our engineering services team supported deployment, training, and day-to-day adoption to embed the new tools across the organisation. The result was a unified software environment that replaced manual processes with structured, automated workflows tailored to the needs of high-performance vehicle development.
Impact
The new platform is now embedded within Aston Martin’s development process, supporting thousands of tests and representing millions of pounds of engineering investment. By automating manual tasks, standardising workflows, and providing real-time access to test data, the system has dramatically condensed development timescales while delivering transformational improvements in product quality and cost efficiency - including a 32% reduction in defects during verification.
This project demonstrates how the integration of advanced digital tools into established engineering processes can drive operational excellence and accelerate innovation in the automotive sector.
